DIY coconut milk

Coconut milk the shell and the powder left over

Not only is DIY coconut milk delicous it’s better for you with no added gums or fillers!

The coconuts at the store were so good looking I just had to get one! Although it takes a lot of time to make…when you take a sip of your work it will be worth the time!

Do I need any special tools to crack open the coconut?

You shouldn’t need any strange tools besides a hammer! (I cracked my coconut open on the driveway of cement!)

What tools will I need?

A cheese cloth.

A good hammer.

A fine seve.

A large bowl.

A pitcher (for the coconut milk).

A blender.

And a spoon.

Ingredients

Makes: about 4-5 cups

1 coconut.

2 cups of cold water.

DIRECTIONS

Crack open one of the small holes at the top of your coconut and pour the coconut water into a cup.

Crack open the coconut on the ground or the way you please.

Cut out the coconut meat and take off the peel.

Rinse the coconut meat lightly.

put the reserved coconut water,coconut meat,and 1 cup of the water into the blender.

Blend for 10-12 mins then add the remaining water and blend once.

Put a seve in a large bowl and cover with cheese cloth.

Pour the coconut mixture into the cheese cloth and seve.

Squeeze every last bit of milk you can out of the coconut meat.

Pour the now liquid coconut milk into a pitcher.

Save the coconut powder left in the cheese cloth.

Chill the coconut milk and enjoy!

Fresh as can be coconut milk!

What to do with the left over coconut powder

Make coconut flour.

Put it in smoothies or recipes.

Use it in homemade body scrubs or lotions.

Put it in baked goods.
